| yes | Plain old-fashioned (not instant) oatmeal, with nothining on it, give me heartburn every time. Nothing else does. I have heard that oatmeal is a good way to treat heartburn. Obviously that isn't the case for everyone. What is causing this reaction? |
| yes | i like to eat instant quaker oats hot cereal for breakfast, but i get heartburn every time. the reason i've stuck to it is because it keeps things regular, as in prevents constipation. the heartburn is not very severe, and only lasts about 20-30 mins. its a small price to pay (perhaps) for all the benefit of oatmeal cereal. however, if a eat a traditional breakfast (eggs, buttered toast, cheese, bacon etc) in any combination, absolutely no heartburn. and no heartburn after salads, cold cereal, meats, vegetables, fruits - i'm good with everything but oatmeal... how come? |

| no | I get heartburn all the time and take bicarbonate of soda to ease the discomfort. Recently I discovered that eating spinach (cooked in a little olive oil with chopped garlic)prevents the onset of heartburn. It's like magic. I've been experimenting with this for several months and the results have been amazing. I takes five minutes to prepare: Just pour a couple of tablespoons of olive oil into a large pan. Let it get fairly hot before adding a teaspoon of chopped garlic. Let garlic heat to a nutty smell (but not browned). Then add a bag of fresh, pre-washed spinach. Use tongs to keep it moving in the pan until it has cooked all the way down. Put it onto a plate and grate fresh parmesan cheese over it. |
